Nominate a Tree for UFA's Champion Tree Program
Note: This program is on hold for the time being.
The beauty of trees in the District extends far beyond the famed cherry trees that line the tidal basin and dot the National Mall. Enormous elms and oaks line neighborhood streets; beautiful flowering redbuds and dogwoods can be found on many front and back yards, and beautiful specimens of lesser-known trees such as pin oaks, American holly, and eastern red cedar are located in parks and gardens scattered throughout town.
To highlight the beauty and historical significance of trees throughout the District, residents are encouraged to promote a tree for the "DC Champion Trees" program. A "DC Champion Tree" will have its picture published online along with its measurements and the person who nominated the tree.
