Green Grants Neighborhood Planting Program

Program Goals

  • Promote awareness of the importance of trees in the urban setting.
  • Educate the District's residents regarding the special history that exists between Washington, DC, and its trees.
  • Provide opportunities for green space creation and enhancement that will have long lasting positive effects on a community's quality of life and environment.
  • Promote collaborative community-based decision-making, including cooperation among residents, nonprofit organizations, local and state agencies, the USDA Forest Service, and the Urban Forestry Administration.
  • Engaging existing partnerships and create new ones to support planning and implementation of local re-greening projects District-wide.
