Green Grants Neighborhood Planting Program Program Goals Promote awareness of the importance of trees in the urban setting. Educate the District's residents regarding the special history that exists between Washington, DC, and its trees. Provide opportunities for green space creation and enhancement that will have long lasting positive effects on a community's quality of life and environment. Promote collaborative community-based decision-making, including cooperation among residents, nonprofit organizations, local and state agencies, the USDA Forest Service, and the Urban Forestry Administration. Engaging existing partnerships and create new ones to support planning and implementation of local re-greening projects District-wide.
